Competitive teardowns

Research the agent did, checked by the people who hear the objections.

Sales and product mark the rows they do not trust. Agent connect labels an unsourced cell as unknown.

E-bike subscription teardown

Owner: Nina Feldman. Brand: Veloquay Bikes. Rivals are fictional.

Notes for sales on two fictional e-bike subscriptions, Spokehaus and Pedalry. Nothing here is a claim about a real company. If a cell has no source, the cell says unknown.

How to read a row

  • A number needs a manual, a contract, or a page we can open again. A call is not a source.
  • A figure from a sales call is a lead, not a cell we show a buyer. Write the lead somewhere else.
  • Pedalry's battery note cites their manual. Spokehaus did not have one we could open.

Rows

  • Service area. Spokehaus: three cities. Pedalry: mail only. Both from pages we saved.
  • Spokehaus battery source: a figure mentioned on two sales calls. No manual.
  • Spokehaus battery: cited from sales calls.Spokehaus battery: unknown.
  • Pedalry battery: swappable, per their manual. We have the page, and the date we saved it.
  • Price bands are left blank until finance attaches the quote sheet. Do not guess a band.

Do not

  • Do not brief a buyer with the Spokehaus battery figure. There is no source.
  • Do not describe either rival as a real brand. The names are made up for this example.

Leah Goldberg

Where did the Spokehaus battery number come from?

Marco Rossi

I have heard it on calls. I have not seen a source.

@agent we do not have a source for this row, mark it unknown.

How teardowns get reviewed today

A spreadsheet collects rows and hides the doubt. A cell looks as confident as the sourced one next to it.

A slide review catches a bad comparison if the right seller is in the room. The correction rarely makes it back into the file the agent will reuse next month.

Mark the unknown row

Nina Feldman asks her agent for a teardown of two fictional e-bike subscriptions, Spokehaus and Pedalry, for Veloquay Bikes. She runs gander watch on competitive/ebike-subscriptions.md and sends it to Marco Rossi and Leah Goldberg.

Leah highlights the battery row and asks if the numbers are from a manual or a review. Marco replies that he has heard the Spokehaus number on calls and has never seen a source. Human thread.

Marco starts a new comment: "@agent we do not have a source for this row, mark it unknown." Nina's agent marks the Spokehaus battery cell unknown, replies, and resolves the thread. Leah sees the change on the same link. Sales uses the doc. It is not a claim about a real company.

Who's in the doc

WriterSalesProductThe author's agent

Writer PMM or GTM. Sends the teardown.

Sales Checks the rows against what buyers actually say.

Product Checks that a comparison does not invent a feature.

The author's agent Marks a row unknown when sales uses agent connect.

Reviewers only need a browser. Talk to each other in normal threads. Use agent connect when you want the draft changed.

Agents that fit competitive teardowns

Grok BotA research draft from public notes, with agent connect through MCP.
Claude CodeWhen the teardown lives in a repo, MCP returns the comment to that session.
CodexCodex can draft the table beside other docs. Agent connect uses MCP.

Let sales strike a guess on the live teardown, before the row becomes something a rep repeats.
